Firehouse subs has some pretty decent Vegan options, and it’s quite easy to have a pretty good vegan meal at their restaurants.

There aren’t many different vegan options, however being able to make a heated up tasty sauteed vegetable sandwich is pretty dang satisfying, especially when paired with chips or one of their tasty salads.

Vegan Sandwich Options:

Build-Your-Own Sandwich on a Hoagie Roll or Gluten Free Ciabatta Roll
The “Veggie” Sub (Remove/Substitute Cheese & Mayo)

Unfortunately the “wheat” bread at Firehouse Subs contains honey, so it’s not 100% Vegan. So make sure your sub comes on a white loaf or gluten free loaf rather than the “wheat” loaf.

While the Sauteed vegetables have been claimed to be made with a sauce that contains Anchovies when we contacted Firehouse Subs directly, as well as asked multiple locations individually, we received the same answer: They’re 100% Vegan and the sauce used when Sauteing doesn’t contain Anchovies like some folks online have claimed.

I’d highly recommend the sauteed vegetables, they’re all absolutely ‘delish and really make a warm sandwich phenomenal.

I’m not a big fan of chips on their own, however it can be quite interesting to stuff some in your sub to spice it up and make it different if you’ve eaten at firehouse subs many times already, or just want some extra calories in your meal.

Some locations have different sauces as well, but you can generally expect every single location to have the above sauces/dressings.

Vegan Deserts at Firehouse Subs:

None

Firehouse Subs doesn’t have any real Vegan Desserts currently, so unless you’re some freak who considers balsamic vinaigrette a dessert, you’re out of luck. Go pick yourself up some candy like a vegan lollipop at a gas station or something for after meals if you like having Desserts. That’s what I do.

So How does Firehouse Subs Look for a Vegan?

While they lack a Vegan-friendly Dessert, and don’t have any vegan meat substitutes, those aren’t really necessary in my opinion. It’d be nice to have some Gardein Meatballs or something to make a “meatball” sub, but that’s really the only thing I think would “make sense” to add.

Overall Firehouse Subs looks pretty dang good for a Vegan, although some other Sub Shops such as Potbelly Subs may have slightly more vegan options. Jason’s Deli is also a good choice, as they have some pretty decent vegan pasta, although their sandwiches aren’t quite as nice in my opinion.

Sub shops in general are pretty good for us vegans, the only not so great ones are places like Jimmy Johns and Quiznos, as they lack vegan-friendly extras and don’t have sauteed/grilled vegetables that are vegan.
